There are 32 teams left in the girl’s road to Columbus. Today, several teams will know their fate.
Solon Comets, the top-team in the Call and Post’s Top 15 poll, will battle Canton McKinley Bulldogs at Canton Memorial Civic Center, tonight at 7:30 p.m.
The Comets (24-2) road to “The Elite Eight” was victories over Hudson (80-40), Aurora (61-30), Twinsburg (51-47) and North Canton Hoover (66-60). If the Comets win, it will be there second consecutive trip to Columbus.
Standing in their way is the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs (22-5), the top-seed in the Akron District, beat East (83-24), East (69-14), Walsh Jesuit (66-26), Stow-Munore Falls (37-36), and Euclid (66-45).
The Comets beat and eliminated the Bulldogs last season 41-40 and advanced to Columbus.
Warrensville Heights battles VASJ for the Garfield Heights District title.
The VASJ Vikings have won this title over and over again. Including the last four. The Warrensville Tigers (11-14) are playing their best basketball right now. But they are going have to be pretty much to perfect to upset the Vikings. The Tigers have won six in a row. Sophomore Brandon Rush scored 26 points in their 71-61 victory over Gilmour Academy on Tuesday.
The Tigers were eliminated by the Vikings last year, 64-62.
