They say defense wins championships and Lutheran East Falcons put on a display of it in their 50-25 Division IV semi-final victory over Delphos St. John’s last night at Columbus.
The Falcons (19-9) will face Columbus Wellington (22-7) on Saturday at 2 pm.
St. Vincent – St. Mary is going back to the D-II state title after they defeated Trotwood-Madison 62-60. The Irish (24-5) face Wauseon (27-1) on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.
The Falcons limited the Blue Jays (21-5) to zero points in the third quarter, while they put up 21. Sophomore Jordan Burge led with 16 points. The Falcons are seeking their first state title since 2005.
The Irish lost to Trotwood-Madison 100-62 in mid-January since then they have been one of the best teams in Northeast Ohio. The Irish off-set the Rams (26-3) Torrey Patton’s 34 points.
Jayvon Graves led the Irish with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Lunden McDay had 15 points and Justin Sampson had 11 points.
Today, the D-I and D-III will take the court.
D-III, VASJ (21-6) vs. Fairland (25-1) at 10:45 a.m.
Roger Bacon (24-4) vs. Archbold (22-5) at 2 p.m.
D-I, Pickerington Central (26-2) vs. Archbishop Moeller (27-0) at 5:15 p.m.
