No. 13 Hoban at No. 8 Benedictine, tonight

No. 8 The Benedictine Bengals can clinch the North Coast League – Blue Division with a victory over No. 13 Archbishop Hoban Knights.

However, the Bengals (7-1 NCL, 14-5) have lost three straight and 11 out of 12 to the Knights (6-2, 17-2) including a 79-63 loss on Jan. 19.

Other hoops, Cleveland Central Catholic (6-0 NCL White Division, 16-3) will battle VASJ (6-1, 11-7). The winner could clinch the North Coast League – White Division. CCC won the first meeting 76-63 on Jan. 19.

Last night scores: Orange topple Wickliffe 64-48. Revelation Sanders led the Lions 25 points.


CSU battles IUPUI for 2nd place in Horizon


Khayla Livingston is on fire. She has hit 19 three’s in her last 3 games.

It may be cold and snowy in Cleveland, but the Cleveland State Lady Vikings are hot.

The Lady Vikings are going for their season-high sixth consecutive victory as the face IUPUI on the road tonight. The battle for second place in the Horizon League will be like the jump ball, up for grabs.

The Vikings, who have won five in a row on the road, 9-4 in the Horizon League. IUPUI is 9-3. The Jaguars have lost two out of three.

The Vikings are coming off of a 64-42 victory over UIC. Ashanti Abshaw led with 19 and Khayla Livingston continues her hot shooting with 17 points. She was deadly from the three-point arc with five. Livingston has made 19 in the last three games.

The Vikings are trying to get their revenge on their Jan 4. 77-64 loss.

The Vikings are 17-7 overall. The Jaguars are 17-6.

Tip-off time at 7 p.m.

The Vikings return home to take on Horizon leaders and No. 22 Green Bay on next Thursday.

St. Ignatius vs Benedictine topples Saturday’s High School hoops.

The Wildcats (10-4) have see-saw their last five games. The Bengals (12-4) have won four in a row including a 63-56 victory over Lake Catholic last night. The Bengals are on top of the North Coast League – Blue Division.

The Wildcats feature Neeko Melendez and the Bengals have Chris Jefferson. Jefferson led the Bengals with 23 points last night.
